'X' Marks the Spot

    X, formerly known as Twitter, is known for being fast-paced and a live-discussion platform for businesses and casual users alike. After Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion the landscape has been drastically changed to help businesses advertise their services more readily and efficiently. With the nature within the media of X being in real-time it serves as a tool to engage with customers live. Another benefit of this is knowing which tags and forms of media are gaining the most traction at the moment. This can drastically help businesses become more visible when advertising their brand on X.
  


    X is one of the cheapest platforms to promote your business through advertising as it has a built in feature to verify an account to push content into the algorithm more effectively. This built-in subscription has two tiers which have different price points. The first and most commonly purchased verification is the $11 a month Premium verification which allows you to get paid for your posts, while boosting the visibility in the algorithm of X. The next level of verification is $22 a month which is Premium+, that gives you a larger boost than the Premium verification for various forms of engagement. Compared to other platforms like Instagram or TikTok where you have to purchase promotions for posts individually, X promotes your account itself to boost your chances of being picked up by the algorithm. 

    Another way to promote your business or organization on X is to use the secondary subscription tool that allows you to verify your organization which is must more costly than the Premium and Premium+ verification for basic accounts. Though the price point is much larger with the Verified Organization Basic tier being $200 a month or $2,000 a year, and the Full Access tier costing $1,000 a month or $10,000 a year, this tool allows grants further streamline the process of advertising by giving you an abundance of tools that are well worth the price point. Some of these tools include priority support from X for issues within your organization, a far more potent boost to the visibility or paid and organic posts and credits for advertisement equal to what the organization pays for the subscription. 

    With the ever-developing landscape of X being more catered to advertising and business promotion, it is important to understand the tools X offers to help businesses gain a following and promote their services.

     As the final week of classes at Ohio Northern University is sitting on the couch making itself at home, the dread of final exams starts to knock on the front door. This time in everyone's college career is very stressful but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Social media has blown up over the last decade and there seems to be no end in sight to how large a scale social media may be.
