Developing a Plan for Marketing

Starting out social media for a business can be very daunting as there are so many facets that need constant attention. It can seem especially daunting with the added pressure of gaining a following while juggling all these factors. To make it less of a hassle, organization is a very important skill to have when it comes to developing a marketing strategy. Along with organization, developing a schedule that will allow you to monitor how often you post and how much time you allot to a certain post, will drastically help the amount of time spent overall on developing social media content, versus actually marketing the content.

The text affirms that organizing the platforms you use within a spreadsheet of some kind, that takes note of many factors going into social media like: types of content, follower count, engagement rate, what content works and what doesn't, and much more. This will help decrease the pressure immensely as you will have a better idea as to which platforms are more profitable and have a better engagement rate. Having a better grasp as to which platforms are better for marketing your business will allow you to then further build your customer persona, which will be much easier to do as you have a good idea as to the type of people who follow your brand. (See figure for example spreadsheet.)

Developing a marketing strategy is a very important skill to have that goes back to the idea of having good time management. When developing content for your social media I personally find it best to take one to three days before posting any content, to generate as much content as possible for your marketing. Once the content I have prepared is ready to be posted, I will develop a tactic to post the content that I have and spread it across the various platforms over a certain time period so as to not overflow the algorithm and keep a steady stream of content going. Most social media platforms have a built in tool to be able to schedule a time for a post to be uploaded, which for time management is a lifesaver as logging into many accounts to post things at certain times of the day when you may be busy can be an unwanted burden.

I also agree that it is important to schedule your posts to keep a steady stream of content so you don't just overflow the algorithm.

I agree that organization is key and having a clear plan and schedule helps so much. Using a spreadsheet to track engagement, what content works, and which platforms are most effective makes everything feel more manageable.
