Keep on Keeping on

Hey all! As the first two weeks of classes come to an end the workload as many can tell is getting larger, which means more time must be spent maintaining responsibilities. As we enter the bulk of classes it is important to stay up to date with your assignments and look ahead to what may be coming to not fall behind this early on. When it comes to college work, time management is one of the most important skills to develop that will make your life far easier than it may come across at the start.

Managing your time may seem like a daunting task, especially coming from the summer, many do not have as many responsibilities as they do when classes are in session. I have learned a few ways to help alleviate some stress with managing responsibilities and time. One way that has helped me immensely, is to read up on what the assignment may entail a few days before doing it and knowing the due dates of those assignments. This can help you to rationalize which assignment you should do first based on how much work it will take to complete and when the due date of the assignment is. This may seem obvious, but understanding what you must do for the given assignments in a week makes the assignment seem smaller than you first perceived it as, reducing the level of stress it may lead you to have.

Another tip for maintaining your time and assignments is to take everything one step at a time, don't rush yourself and don't overload yourself. By taking everything one step at a time you take a lot of the pressure off your mind of all the other assignments that are weighing down on you. Making sure that you are using the time you have during the school day that you made for yourself, whether it be in between classes or after to complete just one of your assignments, can drastically change how you view your levels of stress from the responsibilities of a college student by giving you more free time. This also goes into the concept of procrastination and not waiting until the last few days to complete an assignment, but I'm not going to bore you with that discussion as it has been hammered into all of us. If you have any more tips and tricks to manage your time, leave them in the comments for others to reap the benefits of community!
