Set Lasting Goals

As the semester comes to an end and final exams are right around the corner, I have learned to take things one at a time to allow for flexibility as needed in all aspects of my life. One of the biggest thing that have helped me to gain more motivation and confidence in my life is setting goals that last and aren't things that can be achieved in a single days worth of work. A few of the goals that I've set within my own personal life are fully completing a game called The Binding of Isaac which requires hundreds of hours of dedication and skill to finish it, creating an album that fits my own standards of music without caring what others think for myself, working towards building skills within photo manipulation and 3-D modeling, as well as reading more books throughout the year. With these goals I have in mind along with other required goals within school, work and life in general, it allows me to have something to look forward to that I am invested in that gives me more motivation and confidence to complete everything as a whole.

One thing I want everyone to takeaway is that you are so much more powerful and have ten fold the amount of skills and abilities you have. By applying yourself to whatever it is you love to do or wish to learn how to do, you can do it no matter the challenges and hurdles you may have to overcome to succeed. If hardships teach us anything, it teaches us that we are stronger than we thought we were, and gives us more experiences to deal with the world itself and be able to apply lessons and skills into many other aspects in life.

Focusing on one's mental health is also important and there are a lot of goals that you can set to increase the quality of your life. Trying to stick true to a diet, taking breaks from social media to go outside and breathe fresh air, allowing yourself to fail to learn from your mistakes, and generally not feeling bad about expressing yourself around others is a goal we all should strive towards as it improves daily life functions and creates a healthy role model for others in your life. Community is also another important thing because it allows you to be freely expressive with your interests in a judgement-free zone, while also allowing for people to criticize your behaviors that may be damaging and harmful to yourself and others. It is important to see things from an outside perspective because it is easy to get logged into the same way of thinking that often creates blind-spots that cannot be uncovered without outside interactions and perspectives.
