Dead Week, Dread Week...

As the final week of classes at Ohio Northern University is sitting on the couch making itself at home, the dread of final exams starts to knock on the front door. This time in everyone's college career is very stressful but it doesn't necessarily have to be. Although it is dead week in the eyes of the populace, there is much work to be done that is dreaded by students and myself alike. With our principles of social media class not having a final exam amidst all others it really helps bring the level of stress down. Personally though, this semester has been one of the easiest semesters for me work-load wise as I do not have as much in depth analysis to cover for my psychology major. This is why I think this semester's final exam week is going to be the worst because of the lack of high-octane work this semester, it has turned me into a slacker in some regards.

As the saying goes, 'pressure makes diamonds'. It is the goal to shine like a diamond even when the weight of the world is crashing down. Thinking about this in terms of finals week, it is not always true. The fact of the matter is that the pressure can build to be too much and break an individual. This is why there are so many utilities out there to help you reduce the stress and feel confidence when approaching final exam week. Firstly, relying on your support system is a must in all scenarios. If it weren't for my support system of friends, family and the ones I love I would have no idea where I would be in my life today. Another good way to reduce stress personally is to make music. I love to make music because it allows me to express what I'm feeling without sharing emotions and feelings that I would rather keep to myself. This obviously isn't gonna work for everyone because not everyone makes music, but that doesn't mean the same kind of emotional expression can't be replicated in another hobby or passion.

As the final exams are being handed out, just remember that Christmas is right around the corner!

  1. I definitely agree! The pressure building up stresses me out, but it’s important because it makes sure I study. I also try not to forget to give myself time for self care and hobbies though!

  2. I first want to say this is a great post! You make some really good and relatable points. Pressure can be very scary, discouraging, and stressful. However when we allow ourselves to align our mindset with the idea of “pressure forms diamonds”, dealing with that pressure almost becomes fun!

  3. I agree that not having a final exam for our social media class is definitely bringing my stress level down because I already have four other exams to worry about! I don't make music, but that definitely sounds like a fun and relaxing way to reduce stress!
