Promoting with TikTok as a Producer

TikTok is one of the most influential social media apps to date as it has inspired over 1.56 billion people to join and create their own content. One thing TikTok has done for small content creators and influencers alike is the innovative advertising and promoting of posts. Within TikTok there are three different ways that someone can promote a post by paying money to push a piece of content into the algorithm. These three tools are denoted as goals in the promote assistant dashboard that enable you to boost an account, get sales and get lead generation. Within these tools there are many choices of engagement a content creator can use to get the results that they are looking for. As a small content creator in the form of a music producer, I personally use the boost account goal when promoting my content.

Boosting an account is by far the most popular choice among small content creators as it allows users to generate more video views, gain more followers or gain more profile views. Profile views are more important than one would think for brand reach as it allows users to monitor the other creators that are interested in an account. Personally this tool is great for me as it allows me to connect with other producers in my niche to collaborate on something together. These choices do come with a paywall though, in most cases TikTok suggests users spend at least $20-40 on a promotion to get their desired results. This may come off as greedy, but from my personal use it actually does help in getting the results I want as before I would use less than the desired amount and would not get the results I was hoping for.

TikTok loves to hand out promotion coupons for consistent users who promote within the app. This gives users incentive to grow their brand and promote their content to a wider audience breeding a positive and creative environment online. Along with these coupons they give users challenges to experiment with new forms of content and reward them with promotion coupons. Personally, TikTok is the most beneficial app for my purposes as the industry of producers is rather dense on TikTok and I am able to connect with so many like-minded people.

  1. I had no idea that boosting was even a thing before reading your blog but very interesting that you also use it! Also very interesting insights about promotion of your own videos from someone that uses that app in that way!
